Bishop and Associates has just released a new eight-chapter research report providing a complete analysis of the World Cable Assembly Market for Connectors. This report provides an in-depth analysis of the evolving cable assembly market for connectors, including detailed forecasts of connector shipments by industry sector, cable assembly type, type of cable assembly manufacturer, connector family and geographic region.  This new report is an invaluable tool to those focused on the global cable assembly market. Specific objectives include the following:

Define and quantify all relevant aspects of market segmentation.

Segment and quantify the value of harness and cable assembly shipments for the year 2006.

Identify and forecast the value of connector shipments to cable assembly manufacturers for the years 2005 through 2010 for the following major categories of interest:

       Industry Sector
Class of Trade (Captive vs. Available)
       Type of Cable Assembly
       Type of Cable Manufacture
       Connector Family
       Geographic Region

This report is designed to be broad and comprehensive while, at the same time, providing the level of detail required to support executive market forecasting, and planning and development initiatives. More specifically, the report examines the eleven major end-use industry sectors shown at the right.

For each end use sector, types of harnesses and cable assemblies are characterized by their type of construction, their connector content, geographic region, and cable assembly channel of manufacture.

This new report also covers the value of connector shipments by cable assembly type, for each of the categories of cable assemblies listed to the right.

The historical and forecast values of connector shipments for each category of cable assembly are given for 2005 through 2010.  The report characterizes each type of cable assembly.  Connector shipment value is given by cable assembly type for each individual end use sector as well as by sector for each individual cable assembly type.

An analysis of connector shipments by cable assembly channel of manufacture for the years 2005 through 2010 is also provided. This includes channel detail for each individual industry sector as well as sector detail for each individual channel of cable assembly manufacture. The eleven channels identified are illustrated at the right.

The report identifies and quantifies shifts in industry market structure from several important standpoints:

Market share shifts from local to national and global cable assembly houses as the result of equipment outsourcing.

Impacts of supply chain management efficiencies.

Shifts in component sourcing as a result of the above.

High service and niche specialty cable suppliers.

Connector shipment value and forecasts are displayed in current U.S. dollars by connector product families (PCB, Circular, fiber optic, etc.). An analysis by connector family is given for each end use equipment sector, and an analysis by sector is given for each connector product family.

Values of cable assemblies and connector consumption are given for each geographic region (North America, Europe, Japan, China, Asia Pacific, and ROW). The analysis is provided on a sector-by-sector and region-by-region basis.

2006 world connector shipments totaled $39.954 billion. Of this total, approximately 37 percent, or $14.9 billion found application on copper cables, flexible circuits or fiber optic cables.

The 2006 assembled value of cable assemblies and wiring harnesses is estimated at $98 billion. Of this value, $79.5 billion is associated with cable assemblies and harnesses used in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment, including transportation vehicles and automotive, and $18.5 billion is associated with aftermarket sales, including medical disposables, accessory cable assemblies and assemblies used in maintenance, repair and operations (MRO).
