Published February 2010
Bishop and Associates,
Inc. has just released a 23 chapter report providing a detailed analysis
of Connector Types and Technologies Poised for Growth. This new report
addresses a list of 19 specific connector types that are expected to
experience greater than average growth in either volume or sales based
on the rapid expansion of markets for existing and new products that
utilize these interfaces. New technologies already driving the market
as well as emerging technologies that are poised to influence connector
design and/or application are reviewed. A discussion of market trends
that are changing the way electronic connectors are used is included.
Each connector type is defined with a product description including key
mechanical and electrical performance characteristics, as well as the
rational for its selection. Typical applications are also identified. A
global market value and forecast to 2013 documents our growth
expectations for each connector type.
Many of the selected interfaces have existed in the market for several
years, but emerging applications will propel their growth well beyond
that of the general connector market. Some legacy connector types, for
instance, are being adapted to high-speed differential signaling, which
will allow implementation in next-generation equipment. In other cases,
entirely new interfaces will show logarithmic percentage growth from
near zero as they are implemented in new high-volume applications.

Military Connector Market
Research Report M-990-09
Print Copy
$3,500
Print Copy + 1 Additional Print Copy $3,850
Print Copy + CD (Multi-User Corporate License) $4,550
Published December 2009
Bishop and Associates, Inc. has just released a new ten chapter, 202
page research report providing a quantitative analysis of the World
Military Connector Market, as well as the trends and factors driving the
market. Connector sales and forecasts are provided by end use equipment
market sectors, and connector product category for the years 2007, 2008
and 2013. Regional data is supplied for the years 2007, and 2008 through
2013.
The military equipment sector that relies heavily on legacy products,
but also is a major test ground for the most high-tech and sophisticated
connectors in the world, the 2008 military market for connectors was
approximately $3 billion dollars. With a growth rate of 6.5 percent from
2007 to 2008, the military market has experienced positive
year-over-year growth for over a decade. This decade of year-over-year
growth is in contrast to year-over-year growth of total world connector
sales, which experienced negative growth during the 2000/2002 downturn.
Although all regions of the world experienced positive growth from 2007
to 2008, some regions out performed others. North America who has
consistently had the greatest sales of connectors used in the military
sector, also had the smallest year-to-year growth. Europe, who ranks
second in connector sales to the military sector, exhibited the greatest
growth. Other regions that experienced double-digit growth include
China and the ROW region.

Connector Market for Renewable Energy - Wind and Solar
Research Report
M-1025-09
Print Copy
$3,500
Print Copy + (1 Additional Print Copy) $3,850
Print Copy + CD (Multi-User Corporate License) $4,550
Published November 2009
Bishop & Associates has just
released a new 7 chapter research report defining the World Connector
Market for Renewable Energy. The report profiles the Wind and Solar
segments of the global market and outlines the major product types,
connector categories, connector types, as well as projecting annual
connector sales and forecast for each market segment and regions of the
world. The forecast will detail each specific connector category and
connector type. While there may be some reference made to electrical
components, this report will focus on the electronic connector content
only.
Today we are facing huge challenges: global warming, depleting natural
resources, population growth, increasing energy demand, rising energy
prices and unequal distribution of energy sources. All of these factors
contribute to the urgent need to transform the energy sector, which
primarily relies on fossil fuels, to one that uses renewable energies
and energy efficient technologies.
Renewable energy is defined as the energy derived from resources that
are regenerative, or for all practical purposes, cannot be depleted.
Resources include biofuels, biomass, hydroelectric power, geothermal
energy, solar energy, wind power, ocean thermal energy, wave power, and
tidal power. The global renewable energy market grew by 20.4 percent in
2008 to reach a value of $310.5 billion and is forecast to have a value
of $511.3 billion in 2013, an increase of 64.7 percent since 2008.

Research Report RM-1050-09
Print Copy
$3,500

Published October 2009
Bishop and
Associates has just released a seven chapter, 197 page report providing
an in-depth analysis for the “Post-Recession Outlook of the Electronics
Industry and Connectors – Roadmap 2009-2019”.
This new report is a roadmap study of the electronics industry and
connectors, with 90 tables and many photos and illustrations. Taking off
from work done on the 2009 iNEMI Roadmap, this study analyzes major
elements of the electronics industry that parallel, intersect and
influence connectors, and looks at the connector industry’s markets,
technology and forecasts major product roadmaps from 2009-2019. Compiled
during, and influenced by the 2008-2009 recession, the report analyzes
how the industry will move forward from the current point in time, and
forecasts markets from 2007-2013 and gives a long-range outlook to 2019,
including the impact of a slowing IC technology – a critical driver for
connector technology and demand.
Deep recessionary forces facing electronics were caused by forces
external to the industry – not by boom and bust cycles in the industry
such as happened in 2000. The 2008-2009 recession was caused by a crisis
in the financial and housing sectors, followed by a credit crunch and
stock market plunge that shut off demand for products and services.
