The Australian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (AEEMA) is the leading industry body representing Australia's information and communication technology (ICT), electronics and electrical manufacturing industries. AEEMA members supply infrastructure, products and manufacturing-related services to Australian and world markets. Through its three divisions and affiliated forums, AEEMA represents companies of all sizes – from small, one-person operations to multinational organisations. AEEMA's Electronics Division offers industry the rare opportunity to develop and grow fledgling and established technologies. From traditional printed circuit board and contract electronic manufacturing to the exciting realms of nanotechnology, the Division is dedicated to raising the profile and facilitating the growth and development of Australia's electronics industry. As a standards nominating body, AEEMA has more than 250 representatives on Standards Australia and Australian Communications Industry Forum committees, as well as many other international and local organisations. Membership of AEEMA offers member companies a unique opportunity to be involved with standards development and to have input into the shaping of key technical and regulatory policies. AEEMA is responsible for co-ordinating the Electronics Industry Action Agenda, an important national electronics industry development initiative. Through this as well as key cluster-centred activities, AEEMA offers its members and the industry at large the opportunity to participate in activities that lead to domestic and international business and technology opportunities. Examples of areas of activity include automotive / telematics; connected ‘intelligent’ homes; defence; medical electronics; and electronic supply chain management as well as IT security; automatic data capture; smart cards; and digital broadcasting. AEEMA has executed MOUs with a number of key international industry associations. These include the China Electronic Chamber of Commerce (China); the Electronic Industries Association of Korea and ICAKorea (Korea); the National Information Infrastructure Enterprise Promotion Association of Taiwan and the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (Taiwan); and the Electronic Industries Alliance (USA).
