Force Electronics
was founded in 1960 with the purpose of selling high quality electronic
components to a growing electronic market place.
For the first two years, the Company consisted of the founder, his wife, and
his two children, who worked part time. As the business grew, qualified
employees, supervisors and managers were hired.
In the mid 1970’s the first branch operation was established in Santa Clara,
in the Silicon Valley of Northern California to service the rapidly
expanding market for the type of electronic products sold by Force. Later,
a sales office was opened in San Diego in order to provide better services
to customers in that growing area.
In 1983, it became apparent to the founder that in order to fully service
the growing number of customers in Texas and the Gulf States, it would be
necessary to establish a base in that region. This decision led to the
acquisition in September 1983, of a 20 year old, high quality distributor in
Dallas and Houston known as Solid State Electronics. Subsequently the name
of Solid State was changed to Force Electronics of Texas. As a result of
the acquisition of Solid State, Force Electronics now became an important
regional distributor.
In early 1985, the owner began discussion with the founder and owner of
Heilind Electronics. Heilind was an electronics components distributor
operating in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Texas and Arizona
with product lines similar to those of Force Electronics. As a result of
those discussions, Force Electronics was purchased in April 1986, and
thereafter Force took over the operations of Heilind in Arizona and Texas,
thereby becoming a larger and stronger regional distributor with six
locations in California, Arizona, and Texas.
The company, under the umbrella of The DAC Group, has developed into a
nationwide network of branches covering the U.S. with several strategic
acquisitions. Operations covering Mexico and Canada were added later
allowing for complete coverage throughout North America.
International expansion plans are continuing with a presence in Asia Pacific
anticipated very soon. Operations in Europe will follow shortly thereafter.
A global presence will allow Force Electronics to provide a seamless supply
chain across all continents.
With a compounded annual growth rate of over 20%, it is easy to see how
Force Electronics has become the largest Interconnect Specialty Distributor
in North America. Today, the company continues to uphold the values it was
founded on: focus on what you are the best at and always meet, or exceed,
the customer’s expectations.
