Ticona, a Celanese AG business, is a leading producer of
engineering plastics headquartered in Summit, NJ. Ticona
polymers include: acetal copolymer; ultra-high molecular weight
polyethylene; PBT and PET thermoplastic polyesters; polyester
alloys and elastomers; liquid crystal polymer; long fiber
reinforced thermoplastics; polyphenylene sulfide; nylon-6/6; and
cyclic olefin copolymer. Parts molded from Ticona polymers are
used in automotive, appliance, information technology,
electrical, industrial, consumer, medical, packaging and other
markets.
Ticona's Vectra® LCP, Fortron® PPS, Celanex® PBT, Vandar®
thermoplastic polyester alloys and Impet® PET are widely used in
a number of electrical and electronic components - connectors,
relays, switches, sensors, bobbins, etc. - for the automotive
and electronics markets. Other special resins for the connector
market include Topas® COC, an optically transparent
thermoplastic, used in LEDs and optical connectors, and Celstran®
Long Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic for those components needing
very high impact strength, stiffness and/or EMI/RFI shielding.
For surface mount applications, Vectra® LCP and Fortron® PPS
have excellent dimensional stability, low coefficient of thermal
expansion, are inherently flame retardant and can withstand
reflow soldering temperatures. Several different grades have
been formulated to meet specific end-use needs and will allow
the designer to produce connectors with the required flatness
and coplanarity.
Ticona facilities are located in the USA, Brazil, Germany, and
the UK. Japanese and Malaysian plants are operated by
Polyplastics Co., Ltd.
